We are so excited to announce a new program partner and location for our popular Everybody Dance Now program. We welcome the New England Ballet Theatre as our partner for the program and we thank The Gengras Center on the campus of the University of St. Joseph for allowing us to use their space to meet.
The Miracle League of CT and the New England Ballet Theatre ae thrilled to offer an adaptive dance program. Any child can express themselves through the art of dance. Adaptive dance is designed to include everyone who wants to participate and to utilize their unique individual abilities to their fullest. The program will include boys and girls of all abilities ages 4 and up. The style of dance will be expressive/jazz/modern – not ballet. The style will be adapted to each child’s abilities and interests. Click on the Register Now link below to register.
The program will be offered in the gym at the Gengras Center (on the campus of the University of St. Joseph) 1678 Asylum Ave. in West Hartford. Everybody Dance Now will meet on Sundays at 10am – 10:45 for the Junior Troupe (ages 4-11) and 11:15 – Noon for the Senior Troupe (ages 12+) each week beginning on October 13, 2024. The program will run for 7 weeks and will culminate in a Live Dancer Showcase at the end of the program for the dancer’s families on Sunday November 24th in the Gengras Center Gymnasium.
Meet our new Adaptive Dance Instructor – Miss Tamar Cohen
Tamar Cohen is an apprentice with New England Ballet Theatre and the coordinator of NEBT’s Adaptive Dance program. She grew up dancing at Santa Barbara Festival Ballet, traveling to annual festivals with Regional Dance America, and taking part in the Nutcracker at the Arlington. Tamar has also attended summer intensives with Cecchetti USA, Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet, The Rock School of Dance Education, and Pilobolus Dance Company. In 2017, she competed in the Cecchetti International Ballet Competition in Florence, Italy representing Cecchetti USA, before receiving the Rising Voices Fellowship with the Jewish Women’s Archive. Tamar graduated cum laude from Mount Holyoke College in 2022 and since moving to Connecticut, has gained hands-on experience in Special Education working for Cheshire Public Schools. She has been dancing with NEBT since September of 2023 and has received training from Boston Ballet School’s Adaptive Dance Program, and from Emily Kent at Pilobolus.
