Every Child Deserves a Chance to Play
All of our classes are taught by the professional staff at the Wheeler Regional FamilyYMCA in Plainville. We currently offer 2 classes see details below for class descriptions. Space is limited in both classes, registration is on a first come first serve basis. It is open to all children with special needs, you do not need to be a Miracle League baseball player or a member of the Wheeler YMCA. The registration fee is $50 for each 6 week class, as with all Miracle League of CT programs, we will be happy to offer fee waivers if a family is in need of financial aid. Please email us if you are in need of a fee waiver. All requests will be kept strictly confidential.
Level 1 Begin to Swim 11:00 AM EACH SUNDAY
Begin to Swim is for children of all ages who are not completely comfortable in the water. The goal is to teach swimming basics such as putting the face in the water, blowing bubbles, using a kickboard and floating on their backs. It will also address the basics for children who are new to the water or who need to become more comfortable in the water. Each swimmer must be accompanied in the water by a parent or designated adult. If a parent is not comfortable in the water, the Miracle League of CT may be able to assist in finding an adult to help, please contact us if you need assistance by email at email@example.com. 30 minute class each week
Level 2 Advanced/Intermediate Swimmer 11:30 AM EACH SUNDAY
Lessons will be taught in our lap pool at the Wheeler YMCA. This level of swimming will introduce basic stroke technique with the focus on proper breathing and building endurance for those who are ready. Classes will begin each time with water safety lesson and basic self-rescue skills to perform swim on a more independent level. This is a group lesson of no more than 8 students, students who are not comortable in the water or who may have behavioral challenges may require to have a parent or designated adult in the pool with them. There will be a minimum of 2 instructors in the water, but if your child requires one to one assistance, it must be provided by the family. 30 minute class each week.
