Every Child Deserves a Chance to Play
We are so very excited to announce that the East Lyme Parks and Recreation Department will be joining forces with the Miracle League of CT to build a Miracle League field on the school grounds of the Flanders Elementary School. The East Lyme group has chartered as The Miracle League of Southeastern Connecticut with the national Miracle League office. Fundraising will begin this fall to raise the $550,000 necessary to complete construction of the field. All funds will be privately raised through a capital campaign and various fundraisers. Programming at the field will be administered through the East Lyme Parks & Rec. Dept. with guidance from the Miracle League of CT.
The Miracle League of Southeastern Connecticut will operate independantly but will be affilliated with the Miracle League of CT. We fully expect similar things to happen in the southeastern part of the state that happened after the first Miracle League field was built in West Hartford.
Current plans are for what is known as an "extended" Miracle League field. The extended fields can accommodate other sports such as soccer, flag football and lacrosse on the rectangular portion of the field. Future plans (Phase 2) include an accessible playground and a restroom facility.
